This personal project was inspired by the traditional art style of the Kandyan Kingdom era frescoes, which are known for their rich detail, symbolic figures, and earthy color palettes. I titled the piece “The Kandyan” to pay homage to its roots.

The illustration adopts a similar color scheme found in historical frescoes, carefully modified to ensure compatibility with both print and digital media. The artwork is designed to be versatile; ideal for poster prints and suitable for T-shirt applications as well.

This project allowed me to explore cultural storytelling through a modern vector illustration approach, while preserving the essence of a significant artistic heritage.
